Parr Island on East Lake / Île Parr sur le lac East

As I mentioned in a previous posting, at the cottage that we rented on East Lake in Prince Edward County (Ontario), there were two families of swans. We enjoyed watching them from the deck next to the shoreline. The two families stayed away from each other and were very protective. At one time, I saw a swan chasing a Canada goose away from its space. They are interesting birds to watch. We did notice one or two black swans as well but didn't know if this was a different species or the colour of the young. East Lake is a wonderful place to just sit and observe. The weather and time of day were constantly changing the view. Parr Island, which was in front of our cottage rental, almost looked like one of the clouds in the sky ready to fly away.

Comme j'ai déjà mentionné, au chalet que nous avions loué au bord du lac East, dans le comté de Prince Edward (Ontario), deux familles de cygnes vivaient. Nous avons pris plaisir à les observer d'une terrasse près du rivage. Les deux familles restaient à distance l'une de l'autre et se montraient très protectrices l'une envers l'autre. À un moment donné, j'ai vu un cygne chasser une bernache de son territoire. Ce sont des oiseaux fascinants à observer. Nous avons également aperçu un ou deux cygnes noirs, mais nous ne savions pas s'il s'agissait d'une espèce différente ou la couleur des jeunes. Le lac East est un endroit merveilleux pour simplement s'asseoir et contempler la nature. Le paysage changeait constamment au gré du temps et de l'heure. L'île Parr, qui se trouvait en face de notre chalet, ressemblait presque à un nuage prêt à s'envoler.
