Garden in Lotbinière / Jardin à Lotbinière

On the south shore of the St Lawrence River in the Chaudière-Appalachian region of Quebec, you can find a lovely public garden known as the Domaine Joly de Lotbinière. The garden has over 2000 varieties of plants and an interpretation centre which was formerly a manor built in 1851. It certainly seems worth a visit. I created this painting in anticipation of a visit that I was supposed to make in 2025. Unfortunately it had to be cancelled due to foul weather. Hopefully I can visit it this year, and hopefully my painting reflects its beauty.

Sur la rive sud du fleuve Saint-Laurent, dans la région de Chaudière-Appalaches du Québec, se trouve un magnifique jardin public : le Domaine Joly de Lotbinière. Ce jardin abrite plus de 2 000 variétés de plantes et un centre d’interprétation dans un ancien manoir construit en 1851. Il vaut certainement une visite. J’ai réalisé cette peinture en anticipation d’une visite prévue en 2025. Malheureusement, le mauvais temps a dû l’annuler. J’espère pouvoir m’y rendre cette année et que ma peinture en reflète la beauté du jardin.

Houses in the country seem to have a special character all of their own. This is particularly true with older homes whose architecture appear to tell a story of bygone days – dormers that wistfully look over rivers, gardens that imbue the landscape with colour, and verandas that welcome you. This oil painting is of a lovely country house built in the late 1800's in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Québec.

Les maisons de campagne semblent avoir un caractère unique. Cela est particulièrement vrai pour les maisons plus anciennes dont l'architecture semble raconter une histoire d'autrefois - des lucarnes qui regardent avec nostalgie les rivières, des jardins qui imprègnent le paysage de couleurs et des vérandas qui vous accueillent. Cette peinture à l'huile représente une jolie maison de campagne construite à la fin des années 1800 dans la région de Chaudière-Appalaches au Québec.
