Last year, my wife and I took a dinner cruise from Kingston, Ontario to the Thousand Islands in the St Lawrence River. We've visited the Thousand Islands several times in the past, and each one is memorable. This time we cruised through the Admiralty Islands on the Canadian side of the river near Ganonoque. The scenery was beautiful. One of the highlights was a couple of swans near one of the islands. The captain steered far from them but I was able to take some reference photos with a telephoto lens. This is the result. Being inspired, I began this painting shortly after our visit but put it aside due to other matters. Recently, the thought of returning to the islands gave me an incentive to finish my painting.

L'an dernier, ma femme et moi avons fait une croisière-dîner de Kingston (Ontario) aux Mille-Îles, sur le fleuve Saint-Laurent. Nous avons visité les Mille-Îles à plusieurs reprises, et chaque visite est mémorable. Cette fois-ci, nous avons navigué le long des îles de l'Amirauté, du côté canadien, près de Ganonoque. Le paysage était magnifique. Un des moments remarquables fut l'observation d'un couple de cygnes près d'une île. Le capitaine s'en est éloigné, mais j'ai pu prendre quelques photos de référence avec un téléobjectif. Voici le résultat. Inspiré, j'ai commencé cette peinture peu après notre visite, mais je l'ai mise de côté pour d'autres raisons. Récemment, l'idée de retourner aux Mille-Îles m'a donné l'envie de la terminer.
