Sprigs of Spring / Brins de printemps

I made these illustrations from a bouquet of flowers that we bought for Easter. I planned to keep it simple so I only concentrated on two sprigs of flowers for my sketch - one of dahlias and another of alstroemeras. I used a fountain pen to draw the flowers and to fill in the dark spaces. I thought that I was done once I had my pen and ink sketch. After a while, I started to wonder how these sketches would look in colour but at the same time I didn't want to loose my simple black-and-white sketches. So, I used a technique I've tried before: I scanned the drawings and painted them on my iPad using Procreate. Not too complicated. Interesting results.

J'ai réalisé ces illustrations à partir d'un bouquet de fleurs acheté pour Pâques. Je souhaitais quelque chose de simple et me suis donc concentrée sur deux brins de fleurs pour mon croquis : un dahlia et un alstroemère. J'ai utilisé un stylo-plume pour dessiner les fleurs et remplir les zones sombres. Je pensais avoir terminé mon croquis à l'encre. Plus tard, j'ai commencé à me demander à quoi ressembleraient ces croquis en couleur, mais en même temps je ne voulais pas perdre mes simples croquis en noir et blanc. J'ai donc utilisé une technique que j'avais déjà employée : j'ai numérisé les dessins et je les ai coloriés sur mon iPad avec Procreate. Rien de bien compliqué. Le résultat est intéressant. 

Dessins à l'encre réalisés avec un stylo-plume Faber-Castell et de l'encre Manuscript dans un carnet de croquis Leuchtturm1917, 10 x 14 cm (4 x 5.5 pouces). Colorisation effectuée sur iPad Pro avec Procreate.
