On a recent walk to Lac Leamy Park, I stopped by an old tree at the side of a pathway. At this time of year, I couldn't tell if it was an oak or maple tree but it certainly looked well over 100 years old. And not too healthy. However, it'll probably stand there for decades more unless it becomes a hazard to pedestrians or cyclists. I was impressed by its thick bark, unusual bumps and large limbs. A good subject for a painting.

Lors d'une récente promenade au parc du lac Leamy, je me suis arrêté près d'un vieil arbre au bord d'un sentier. À cette période de l'année, c'était impossible de dire s'il s'agissait d'un chêne ou d'un érable, mais il paraissait bien plus que centenaire. Et pas très sain. Cependant, il restera là probablement encore des décennies, à moins qu'il ne devienne un danger pour les piétons ou les cyclistes. J'étais impressionné par son écorce épaisse, ses protubérances inhabituelles et ses branches imposantes. Un beau sujet pour une peinture.
