Meadowlark Garden / Le jardin Meadowlark

Recently, my wife and I have returned from a short visit to Washington DC and Richmond, Virginia to visit some botanical gardens - Meadowlark (in Vienna, Virginia); and Lewis-Ginter and Maymont (both in Richmond). It was refreshing to see all of the trees in leaf and the flowers in bloom. (We are still a few weeks away from having the same conditions here in Ottawa-Gatineau.)
This sketch was started on site at Meadowlark and represents a Korean Bell Pavilion which is found in a section of the garden which has other similiar but smaller pavilions. As you can see in the photo below, the bell is extremely large (3 tons and 2 m high) and is adorned with different symbols. Being in early spring on a sunny day, the colours were incredibly bright and cheerful.
