This is the iconic image of Parliament Hill that you see from across the Ottawa River at the Canadian Museum of History (formerly known as the Museum of Civilization). On the left, you see the Chateau Laurier Hotel and at the base of the escarpment, you see the bicycle path that follows along the shoreline of the River. I'm particularly fond of the Library of Parliament - the round building closest to the escarpment. Its one of the oldest buildings on Parliament Hill, having survived the fire of 1916 which destroyed the rest of the Centre Block.
Lately, one of my routines is to do some cycling in the morning and to stop and sketch some of the scenes on my route. This is one of my recent drawings with a photo of my sketching kit.
Watercolour with Lamy Safari pen and Noodler's Lexington grey ink in a Strathmore 400 series sketchbook, 26 x 15.5 cm (10.5 x 6 inches).
