Fountain and full moon / La fontaine et la pleine lune

This is a sketch of a fountain in Ottawa. The inscription on the fountain says that it was presented to the city on July 1, 1909 by Baron Strathcona and Mount Royal (aka Donald Smith - fur trader, financier and politican). The park where the fountain stands was named after him - Strathcona Park.

I've always enjoyed this park and used to wade across the Rideau River to get to it when I was young. The fountain can be found on Laurier Street at the top of a stairway leading down to the park. My sketch illustrates the fountain at night with the full moon lighting it up.

Ceci est un dessin d'une fontaine à Ottawa. L'inscription sur la fontaine dit qu'elle a été présenté à la ville le 1 juillet 1909 par le baron Strathcona et Mount Royal (alias Donald Smith - commerçant de fourrures, financier et politicien). Le parc où la fontaine se trouve a été nommé d'après lui - le parc Strathcona.
J'ai toujours apprécié ce parc et je pataugais sur la rivière Rideau pour y accéder quand j'étais jeune. La fontaine se trouve sur la rue Laurier dans le haut d'un escalier descendant vers le parc. Mon croquis illustre la fontaine de nuit avec la pleine lune qui s'allume.
