The fox and the crow / Le renard et le corbeau

This is an illustration of the Aesop fable about the fox and the crow. You know - the fox was hungry and wanted to eat the grapes that the crow held in its beak, so he told it that it sang sweeter than any of the other birds in the forest. The flattery was too much for the silly crow and it began to sing, dropping the grapes for the fox to savour. Unfortunately, I don't think that this is exactly how Aesop told it. I believe that Aesop had the bird hold a piece of cheese in its beak. But who knows ... that was 2,600 years ago, and anyway who heard of foxes eating cheese!  ;-)

Ceci est une illustration de la fable d'Ésope sur le renard et le corbeau. Vous savez - le renard avait faim et envie de manger du raisin que le corbeau a tenu dans son bec, alors il dit au corbeau qu'il chantait plus doux que tous les autres oiseaux dans la forêt. La flatterie était trop pour l'oiseau et il se mit à chanter, et a fait tomber le raisin pour le renard de savourer.  Malheureusement, je ne pense pas que c'est exactement la manière dont Ésope l'a conté. Je crois que l'oiseau avait un morceau de fromage dans son bec. Mais qui sait ... c'était il y a 2600 ans, et de toute façon qui a entendu que des renards mangeaient du fromage!  ;-)
