The Maclaren House which sits on a hill next to the LaPeche River in Wakefield, Québec, is a beautiful and historic site. The house was built in between 1861 and 1871 by John Maclaren, a local businessman. I've visited this site several times over the years and have previously made a painting of it in the depths of winter when icicles formed down along its roof (click here for painting). This time I wanted to capture the full extent of the Victorian building with its porch and front door. But the beauty of the entire location is enchanting with a broad lawn in front and a sky that reaches out.

La maison Maclaren, située sur une colline près de la rivière La Pêche à Wakefield, au Québec, est un site magnifique et historique. La maison a été construite entre 1861 et 1871 par John Maclaren, un homme d'affaires local. J'ai visité ce site plusieurs fois au fil des ans et j'en ai déjà fait une peinture au plus profond de l'hiver, lorsque des glaçons se formaient le long de son toit (cliquez ici pour voir la peinture). Cette fois, je voulais capturer toute l'étendue du bâtiment victorien avec son porche et sa porte d'entrée. Mais la beauté de l'ensemble du site est enchanteresse avec une large pelouse devant et un ciel qui s'étend à perte de vue.
