Moleskines

These are a couple of scenes that I sketched recently at the lake. The top one is of a motorized canoe that I noticed while quietly anchored near a creek. This sketch was done with different inks - Noodler's Lexington grey, Platinum Carbon black, and Pentel black. Its interesting to see the effect of one ink on top of another; there's a sort of layering that happens. I was also impressed by the sturdiness of the Moleskine paper - although I thought that the multiple layers of ink might go through the paper, it didn't. Anyway, the scene was one that I saw one afternoon while anchored in a bay with my small pontoon boat. This canoe came out of a creek and it was highlighted perfectly against the backdrop of the forest. I had to sketch it! The bottom sketch is of my peddleboat next to the dock and is done with Noodler's Lexington grey ink.

Voici deux scènes que j'ai esquissée récemment au bord du lac. Celui du haut est d'une canot à moteur que j'ai remarqué quand j'étais tout tranquillement ancré près d'un ruisseau. Ce croquis a été fait avec des encres différentes - Lexington gris de Noodlers, Platinum carbone noir, et Pentel noir. C'est intéressant de voir l'effet d'une encre sur une autre; il y a une sorte de stratification qui se passe. J'ai également été impressionné par la solidité du papier Moleskine - bien que je pensais que les multiples couches d'encre pouvaient passer à travers le papier, ils n'ont pas fait. Concernant la scène, le canot est sorti d'un ruisseau et il a été accentué contre le décor de la forêt. J'avais un besoin de le dessiner! Le croquis du bas est de mon pédalo à côté du quai et il était fait avec l'encre Lexington gris de Noodlers.
