At this time of year, rapid changes are taking place in the garden. Crocuses have already come and gone; daffodils are starting to fade; and my star magnolia is already starting to shed blossoms as though they were snowflakes. Like clockwork, the season is moving forward and its a challenge to capture all these changes in sketches and paintings. I was fortunate this year to have a full display of my pure white star magnolias which have lasted nearly two weeks.

Technical note: My newly purchased Above Ground sketchbook is disintegrating. The pages, which are glued to the spin as perfect binding, are falling out the more that I use it. It's rather disappointing since I like the thick 300 gsm smooth surface paper. Most of my sketchbooks are made with stitched booklets that are glued to the spine and have never fallen apart.
