Yesterday was a cold rainy day, not at all ideal for sketching outdoors. But I had some time on my hands and decided to find a parking spot where I could sketch something from the relative comfort of my car. I was fortunate to find this location on Stanley Street in the New Edinburgh neighbourhood of Ottawa next to the Rideau River. It was interesting to see that many of the trees still had their leaves bursting in golden autumn colours. However, there were also a lot of trees that didn't have so much as one leaf left on any branches. This is the grim reality as we approach winter. But on a more positive note, the beauty is that we can appreciate the sight of the tree limbs reaching up into the sky. I sketched the scene from my car with a pencil and inked it at home.

Hier, il faisait froid et il pleuvait, des conditions loin d'être idéales pour dessiner en plein air. Mais j'avais du temps libre et j'ai décidé de trouver une place à stationer où je pourrais dessiner confortablement de ma voiture. J'ai eu la chance de trouver une endroit sur la rue Stanley, dans le quartier de New Edinburgh à Ottawa, au bord de la rivière Rideau. C'était intéressant de voir que de nombreux arbres avaient encore leurs feuilles aux couleurs dorées de l'automne. Cependant, beaucoup d'autres arbres étaient déjà complètement dénudés. C'est la dure réalité à l'approche de l'hiver. Mais, sur une note plus positive, on peut apprécier la beauté des branches qui s'élancent vers le ciel. J'ai esquissé la scène de ma voiture au crayon et je l'ai encrée chez moi.
