Ottawa Rowing Club / Le Club d'Aviron d'Ottawa

Last week, I cycled over to a spot that I've overlooked for a long time. I crossed the Ottawa River and turned in the direction of Lady Grey Drive - an old street in Ottawa which follows the river from the National Research Centre to the National Art Gallery. Most people never go there but the view is amazing. The Ottawa Rowing Club is found at the foot of the Drive next to the MacDonald-Cartier Bridge. The building was built in 1896 and has withstood many floods and icy winters. The club is fairly active and I can recall frequently seeing crews practice on the water when I was boating.

La semaine dernière, j’ai fait du vélo jusqu’à un endroit que je négligeais depuis longtemps. J'ai traversé la rivière des Outaouais et j'ai tourné en direction de Lady Grey Drive, une vieille rue d'Ottawa qui suit la rivière du Centre national de recherche à la Galerie d'art nationale. La plupart des gens n'y vont jamais mais la vue est incroyable. Le Club d'Aviron d'Ottawa se trouve au pied de la promenade, à côté du pont MacDonald-Cartier. Le bâtiment a été construit en 1896 et a résisté à de nombreuses inondations et hivers glaciaux. Le club est assez actif et je me souviens souvent d'avoir vu des équipages s'entraîner sur l'eau lorsque je conduisais en bateau.
