Maymont Japanese garden / Le jardin japonais de Maymont

How time flies. Three years ago, I had the pleasure to visit the Maymont gardens in Richmond, Virginia USA. I was impressed with the beauty of the site along the shore of the James River and posted a painting of the ornate Italian garden which is located high on an escarpment. While I was doing some spring cleaning recently, I found another sketch I had started but never finished of Maymont's Japanese garden and decided to finish it. As you can see the Japanese garden lies below a waterfall that flows from the Italian gardens and continues through a park into the James River. It is a beautiful site and I had the good fortune to visit it while the spring flowers were in bloom. Below you can see some of the other vistas in this incredible garden. I would have enjoyed visiting Maymont again this year but didn't have the opportunity. I guess that I'll have to add it to my 'Bucket List'.
