Every season, my wife and I enjoy leisurely strolls along the Sugarbush Trail in the Gatineau Park in Old Chelsea (Quebec). Winter included. The trail winds its way through the forest for about two km and is well indicated so that you won’t loose your way. (The Gatineau Park is 361 sq km in size and you could get seriously lost if you wandered off-trail.) At the start of the trail, there’s a Visitor Centre, a warm-up cabin and a footbridge over a creek. Nearby there are also a lot of cafés and restaurants. The footbridge used to be made of wood but because there has been so much foot traffic over it in, the National Capital Commission replaced it several years ago with a solid metal footbridge. I thought that the footbridge would make a nice subject for a sketch.

Chaque saison, ma femme et moi profitons de promenades tranquilles le long du sentier de l'érablière dans le parc de la Gatineau à Old Chelsea (Québec). Hiver inclus. Le sentier serpente dans la forêt sur environ deux km et est bien indiqué pour ne pas perdre son chemin. (Le parc de la Gatineau a une superficie de 361 km2 et vous pourriez vous perdre sérieusement si vous vous promeniez hors sentier.) Au début du sentier, il y a un Centre d'accueil, une cabane d'échauffement et une passerelle au-dessus d'un ruisseau. A proximité il y a aussi beaucoup de cafés et de restaurants. La passerelle était autrefois en bois, mais en raison de la forte circulation piétonnière, la Commission de la capitale nationale l'a remplacée il y a plusieurs années par une passerelle en métal. J'ai pensé que la passerelle ferait un beau sujet pour un croquis.
