Last week I posted a sketch of Brewery Creek and mentioned that this watercourse had two completely different characters - the first being very urban in a residential/commercial section of the city with gardens on its shoreline, an island containing a lively performance theatre, and a portion resembling a canal (with skating in winter); the second being a neglected greenspace alongside a highway which then flows through a large natural park back into the Ottawa River. This sketch is of the wild character of the creek. Parts of this section of the creek have been blighted by debris and graffiti, but there is still great beauty in the way the water flows through marshes and by overhanging trees with all sorts of waterfowl and animals along its course. Its wonderful to cycle along much of its route and contemplate painting it throughout the seasons.

La semaine dernière, j'ai affiché un croquis du ruisseau de la Brasserie et j'ai mentionné que ce cours d'eau avait deux caractères complètement différents - le premier étant très urbain dans une section résidentielle / commerciale de la ville avec des jardins sur son rivage, une île contenant un théâtre de spectacle animé et une portion ressemblant à un canal (avec patinage en hiver); le deuxième étant un espace vert négligé le long d'une autoroute qui traverse ensuite un grand parc naturel avant de se verser dans la rivière des Outaouais. Ce croquis est du caractère sauvage du ruisseau. Des parties de cette section du ruisseau ont été gâchées par des débris et des graffitis, mais il y a toujours une grande beauté dans la façon dont l'eau coule dans les marais et en surplombant les arbres avec toutes sortes de sauvagines et d'animaux. Il est merveilleux de parcourir une grande partie de son parcours en vélo et d'envisager de le peindre au fil des saisons.
