Skating on Brewery Creek / Patiner au ruisseau de la Brasserie

While the most popular skating rink in Ottawa-Gatineau is undoubtedly the vast Rideau Canal, there's another rink that's relatively smaller - about 1 km long - but very attractive. This rink is found in the Hull sector of Gatineau on a section of Brewery Creek. I've captured a part of it in my painting where you can see the Montcalm Street bridge and the old waterworks building (originally built in 1813 as a distillery). The old waterworks building is now home to a restaurant and craft brewery -Les Brasseurs du Temps (BDT). You can read an interesting history of this building here.

Bien que la patinoire la plus populaire d'Ottawa-Gatineau est sans aucun doute le vaste canal Rideau, il y a une autre patinoire relativement plus petite - environ 1 km de long - mais très attrayante. Cette patinoire se trouve dans le secteur Hull de Gatineau, sur une section du ruisseau de la Brasserie. J'ai capturé une partie de celui-ci dans ma peinture où l'on peut voir le pont de la rue Montcalm et l'ancien bâtiment de l'aqueduc (construit à l'origine en 1813 comme distillerie).
