This futuristic-looking refreshment stand or pavillion next to the Hog's Back Falls was built in 1955 as part of a post-War beautification project across Ottawa. It was designed by a local architect, James Watson Balharrie, who was also responsible for other buildings at Carleon University and the Sparks Street Mall. I always enjoyed stopping here for a snack as a teenager when I used to go to the beach next door at Mooney's Bay or when I was cycling in the vicinity. The building looked special, like something from Expo '67. I still enjoy stopping here for a walk in the park and a view of the magnificent falls tumbling over the rocks into the river below.

Ce kiosque ou pavillon d'allure futuriste situé à côté des chutes Hog's Back a été construit en 1955 dans le cadre d'un projet d'embellissement d'après-guerre à Ottawa. Il a été conçu par un architecte local, James Watson Balharrie, qui était également responsable d'autres bâtiments de l'Université Carleon et du centre commercial de la rue Sparks. Quand j'étais adolescente, j'ai toujours aimé arrêter ici pour prendre une collation lorsque j'allais à la plage voisine de Mooney's Bay ou lorsque je faisais du vélo dans les environs. Le bâtiment avait l'air spécial, comme quelque chose de l'Expo 67. J'aime encore arrêter ici pour prendre une promenade dans le parc et admirer les magnifiques chutes qui tombent sur les rochers dans la rivière en contrebas.
