This year I saw my first flock of robins early in February. That was an encouraging sign of spring but the really good springtime weather only started in late March / early April. Robins may not be true harbingers of spring but it still feels good to see them. This painting is based on a photo that Don Wiggans took and posted in the Facebook group 'Bird Watchers of Ottawa and the Surrounding Areas'.

Cette année, j'ai vu mon premier troupeau de rouges-gorges au début de février. C'était un signe encourageant du printemps, mais le très beau temps printanier n'a commencé qu'en fin mars / début avril. Les rouges-gorges ne sont peut-être pas de véritables annonciateurs du printemps, mais cela fait quand même du bien de les voir.
