Koi fish in pond / Les poissons koi dans un étang

The garden at Rideau Woodland Ramble also contains a lovely pond with a fountain, lilypads, sculptures and koi fish. I couldn't resist making a painting of the koi fish as the swam slowly among the lilypads and other aquatic plants.

Le jardin de Rideau Woodland Ramble contient également un bel étang avec une fontaine, des nénuphars, des sculptures et des poissons koi. Rideau Woodland Ramble Pavilion

One of my favourite places to go shopping for perennial plants is the Rideau Woodland Ramble in Burrits Rapids which is between Merrickville and Kemptville, Ontario. What I find interesting is that this centre is also a lovely garden to walk around and admire its pond with waterlilies and koi fish, its pathways bordered with many different kinds of hostas, its small art gallery and, in the centre of the place, its impressive gazebo (which I have reproduced in this painting).

Un de mes endroits préférés pour acheter les plantes vivaces c'est le Rideau Woodland Ramble, situé au Burrits Rapids, situé entre Merrickville et Kemptville, en Ontario. Ce que je trouve intéressant, c’est que ce centre est aussi un joli jardin où nous pouvons se promener et admirer son étang de nymphéas et de poissons carpes koï, ses allées bordées de nombreux types d’hostas, sa petite galerie d’art et, au centre de la place, son pavillon impressionnant (que j'ai reproduit dans ce tableau).

Rideau River at Clifford Allen Island No. 2/ La rivière Rideau près de l'Île Clifford Allen no. 2

Happy Canada Day! If there's one thing that's characteristic of Canadian art, it's landscape painting. There's so much varied geography in this country that it was inevitable that artists would want to capture it in their own unique styles. Some of my favourite arists are Cornelius Krieghoff, Clarence Gagnon, Marc Aurèle Suzor-Côté, Tom Tomson, Lawren Harris, AY Jackson, Alex Colville, Ken Danby, and Robert Bateman. But this isn't a complete list. There are many others who have emulated these fantastic artists. Today I've posted a sketch I started a couple weeks ago when I was cycling in the neighbourhood of Billings Bridge. Its a secluded spot on the Rideau River which has remained natural and has attracted a lot of water fowl.

Joyeux fête du Canada! S'il y a une chose qui caractérise l'art canadien, c'est la peinture de paysage. La géographie de ce pays est tellement variée qu'il était inévitable que les artistes veuillent la saisir dans leurs propres styles. Certains de mes aristes préférés sont Cornelius Krieghoff, Clarence Gagnon, Marc Aurèle Suzor-Côté, Tom Tomson, Lawren Harris, AY Jackson, Alex Colville, Ken Danby et Robert Bateman. Mais ce n'est pas une liste complète. Il y en a beaucoup d'autres qui ont imité ces artistes fantastiques. Aujourd'hui, j'ai posté un croquis que j'avais commencé il y a quelques semaines alors que je faisait du vélo dans le quartier de Billings Bridge. C'est un endroit isolé sur la rivière Rideau qui est resté naturel et a attiré beaucoup d'oiseaux aquatiques.
