During the month of May in the Upper Gatineau Valley, the forests brighten up with the appearance of trilliums in white, pink and red. The shapes of these perennials also vary - some petals are very round, others are long and narrow, and others are down-turned. There's a forest near my cottage that has a lovely assortment of these spring flowers on a shady slope. This is where I took my inspiration for this large painting.

Au cours du mois
de mai dans la haute vallée de la Gatineau, les forêts s'illuminent
avec l'apparition de trilles en blanc, rose et rouge. Les
formes de ces vivaces varient également - certains pétales sont très
ronds, d'autres sont longs et étroits et d'autres sont retournés. Il y a une forêt près de mon chalet qui a un joli assortiment de ces fleurs de printemps sur une pente ombragée. C'est là que j'ai pris mon inspiration pour ce grand tableau.
